After making rapid academic progress in a short space of time, Lordswood Boys’ School needed a modern environment that could further drive pupil progress. The school’s location means it plays a pivotal role in enabling social mobility, and therefore it needed to provide its pupils with high-quality facilities and equipment that maximised their learning potential.
After Lordswood Boys School was selected for the Priority School Building Programme, Millgate was assigned to support the creation of technology infrastructure for a new 5,790m2 facility, spread over three-storeys with 34 classrooms, a main hall, sports hall, library resource centre, special educational needs provision and ancillary teaching facilities.
Millgate started by installing the telecoms and networking infrastructure for the new building. Neil, one of Millgate’s telecoms specialists, helped lead the project, which included the coordination of multiple suppliers to deliver VoIP telephony and unified comms for the school, as well as mobile devices and plans. Neil’s constant calmness and extensive specialist knowledge helped ensure the success of the work.
Next, Millgate worked with Kier and Lordswood Boys’ School to install a new server, including setup and configuration of the new system as well as ongoing remote support.
If there were 3 words I’d use to describe everyone I’ve dealt with at Millgate, they would be: calm, reliable and efficient.
