Learn Just 26% of unsafe passwords reset

Looking into Google's password research

Just a quarter of exposed credentials are reset, a report from Google has found.

Additionally, outside the most popular sites, users are 2.5x more likely to reuse vulnerable passwords.

The report comes from research into Google’s Password Checkup extension for Chrome, which notifies users of any login details that are known to be unsafe due to a third-party data breach.

Over 650,000 users have participated in the early experiment, and Google has found that hackers routinely attempt to use exposed credentials.

The research found that users reused breached, unsafe credentials, for ‘some of their most sensitive financial, government, and email accounts’.
