However, what many businesses are struggling with is understanding that this isn't your standard licensing exercise, it is part of a data governance exercise. Recent research suggests that 41% of UK organisations managing digitised data are already using at least one form of AI technology, with research referenced by Microsoft also highlighting that 66% of users report spending more time on higher-value work, while 58% say AI enables them to produce work they couldn't have produced previously.

The opportunity is clear, however, rushing into deployment without addressing data governance leads to three common outcomes:
